I see that The Beermat Corporation Limited has now been dissolved. You would have thought that they would make that obvious on their website. Still, it is a warning to anyone thinking of placing an order with them, because you cannot place an order with a company that has been dissolved.

What is the matter with these guys?

You just know they have read this posting, yet they still carry on claiming to be beermat manufacturers when they are not. Have they come here and issued denials? No! Lets hope that the ASA starts to look at unsubstantiated claims made by companies advertising on the web, better still, that Google prevents false claims being used in their adverts.

The Truth Sayer: I don't know a great deal about the two small companies you are referring to, because they are not mainstream suppliers. But, I would ask this...why are the real beermat manufacturers continuing to supply businesses that are claiming to be manufacturers when they so clearly are not?

What self-respecting beermat manufacturer would knowingly supply a company that is promoting itself as a manufacturer, when is so clearly isn't one? This assumes that the manufacturer knows of course, but if they do not, perhaps they should.

Far be it for me to cast aspersions on those claiming to be beermat manufacturers when they are not, but....

Zyan is NOT a beermat manufacturer, in fact, as I understand it, the guy that runs it has an office at his dad's internet service provider business. Anyone that wants to check only has to complete a Google search on his address.

As for The Beermat Corporation, another company that claims to be a manufacturer, his business is based in Holland or Belgium, can't remember which, but the address in Lancashire is an accommodation address, shared with loads of other companies. A quick check with companies house will also show that the company is in the first stage of dissolution.

These guys need to catch a wake up, stop pretending to be something they are clearly not and start trading and selling on their own merits, the same as the rest of us. Well done Mr Beermats for highlighting this issue, there are a good number of us that are more than a little fed up with businesses exaggerating their claims.

Well its about time someone started to expose those that would seek to gild the lilly. Some may think that this is just creative licence, other may not be quite so kind, I think it is outrageous.

If Mr Zyan is really a beermat manufacturer, maybe he can come on this blog and tells us where his "six-colour KBA Planeta" is installed? If he continues with this claim, maybe we should consider publicising precisely where the Planeta is based and who owns it? The clue is in the "six colour" claim. No prizes for guessing eh?

I bought some beermats from a guy that claimed to be a beermat manufacturer (not Zyan) in July last year. He said that his press was based in north west England, promised a 10 day turnaround and promptly went on holiday. I subsequently found out that he was not a beermat manufacturer, the address I was given was apparantly an accomodation address, the company had not filed accounts and he was actually based in Europe. I ended up having to can my promotion. My advice is, establish that the company you are dealing with is a manufacturer, there are only two, Thirstys and Mosaic, or go to a professional print broker, dealer etc. Don't do what I did, and get waylaid by the headline price, it doesn't matter how cheap it is if they cannot deliver on their promises.

There are just two beermat manufacturers in the UK, you could try Thirstys, www.thirstys.co.uk, they are dedicated beermat manufacturers, rather than just printers. Both UK manufacturers use pulpboard, offer full colour prints and if memory serves me correctly, the board thickness in 1.2mm.

Dear beer mat experts,

I live in Asia and I need to know how to go about to find a good beer mat printer. Can someone let me know about what questions to ask the printer so that I can establish that they print on genuine pulp board and that they have professional and sound production processes. For example, what GSM for the pulp board am I looking for? What printing techniques should they be able to offer?

I would very much appreciate your advice.

Cheerio,
Vee
